EU investments to Ethiopia over the period 1992-2014 have amounted to over 2 billion EURO. The number of jobs generated by the roughly 300 EU companies active in Ethiopia is estimated at more than 200.000. Ethiopian counterparts have recognised the high quality and sustainable aspect of EU investments allowing notably for technology transfer in key sectors as well as sustainable employment generation.

With around 1 billion USD per year, the EU (Commission and Member States) provide around 1/3 of ODA to Ethiopia and is taking a lead in progressively using country systems and work within the EU+ and the wider DAG community on aid effectiveness.
