EuroCham Launches a New Office and FDI Incubation Center
The European Chamber in Ethiopia (EuroCham) has inaugurated its new office and officially launched an EU FDI Incubation Center, strengthening institutional support for European investors at a time of ongoing economic reform. Backed by an EU-funded grant, the initiative is designed to improve predictability, enhance structured public–private dialogue, and facilitate long-term foreign direct investment.
H.E. Dr. Zeleke Temesgen, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, emphasized the importance of reliable institutional guidance for new market entrants. “The establishment of the EU FDI Excellence Center will play a crucial role in supporting incoming investors as they navigate Ethiopia’s institutional and legal frameworks with greater confidence and clarity,” he stated.
From the European Union’s side, Daniel Hachez, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ethiopia, framed the development as a strategic platform for reform-oriented engagement. “Today we are inaugurating more than an office. We are inaugurating a platform for dialogue, a space for innovation, and a key contribution to our shared commitment to building a stronger, more predictable, and more prosperous business environment in Ethiopia,” he said.
EuroCham Board Chair Ben Depraetere underlined the Chamber’s operational readiness to support investors. “Incoming FDI can use our space during their pre-investment assessment and establishment,” he noted, positioning the Center as a practical entry point for European companies exploring the Ethiopian market.
The new Center functions as a one-stop facilitation platform providing regulatory orientation, institutional linkages, incubation space, and evidence-based policy engagement. Its launch aligns with Ethiopia’s broader macroeconomic and investment reforms, reinforcing the role of structured dialogue and institutional capacity in attracting sustainable, quality European investment.
The launching event was attended by high government officials, the diplomatic community EuroCham members, and media representatives among others.
